Unique Print Materials That Your Customers Will Love

February 14, 2020 by anoadmin

Your customers will just love rocking the print materials we have listed below! But you will also love them because they double as an advertisement for your awesome business. In fact, once your customers get their hands on them, they will instantly become a walking advertisement – and who are you to stop them?

At the end of the day, we all love taking home a few stickers from our favorite restaurant or receiving a free bag with a purchase or buying a t-shirt with the logo of one of our favorite businesses. While these ‘things’ may seem insignificant when we receive them, they’re actually a business’s strategic print materials and we all love accessorizing with them!

So, don’t miss the opportunity to give your customers a chance to flaunt your business. Use the list of unique print materials below to steal the hearts of your customers and get long-lasting, inexpensive advertising for your business.

Bags: Nowadays, communities are moving away from the use of plastic bags. This got us thinking that a custom bag with your logo might be exactly what your customer needs to get their errands done. We can picture it now: a bag with your logo on it hanging off the arm of your customer for all the world to see!

Business Cards with A Coupon:null Everyone loves a good deal. So, the next time you print your business cards we recommend placing a promotion or coupon on the back of it. This way, it’s less likely to get thrown away or tossed in a drawer and your customer is more inclined to use it in the future or pass it along to a friend.

Buttons: Not only are buttons fairly inexpensive to have printed, but your customers will love them for adding a special pop to their shirts, backpacks, car sun visors, hats, and other places!

Car Billboards: nullCar billboards such as stickers, magnets, and decals are a great way to advertise and they are also enormously popular among customers. Need more convincing? The next time you’re on the road, take a look around at all the stickers on the back of vehicles. You are sure to see everything from roofing companies to coffee shops to festivals being promoted. Although the world seems to be moving more and more towards online, this example is living proof that car billboards are still an effective way to advertise in print.

Koozies: During long, hot summer days in Florida, there is a serious shortage of beverages that stay cool and refreshing. What better way to show your customer how much you care about them than with a koozie that incorporates your logo. Not only will their friends likely notice the koozie, but they’ll also think of you each time they pull it out to insulate their beverage.

Magnets: Customers love receiving magnets from a company because they are super versatile. In fact, can you think of a business whose magnet you wouldn’t put on your refrigerator? Whether you’re an insurance company, eye doctor, or accommodation, chances are that your magnet will get a prime spot next to the other magnets on your customers’ refrigerator. The best part? This accessory is sure to be seen by friends, family, and even the babysitter!

Stickers: Just like voting stickers and festival stickers, there is a place in your customer’s heart for your sticker too. You will get major brownie points for providing your customer with an item other than your product/service and the benefits just keep going once they peel it off and stick it on their shirt, hat, laptop, water bottle, or body!

T-shirts and Hats: nullT-shirts and hats with your logo on them can be used as a bonus when customers sign up for a service. Or, you can give them away and receive free advertising when customers wear them. Not sure how to incorporate your logo onto a shirt or hat? Check out how some of our other clients did it for inspiration: Gator Door East, R.V. Construction, Datil Pepper Tea.

From a logo on a t-shirt to a car billboard, giving your customers a chance to show off your company is an opportunity you don’t want to miss. In fact, they want to show off how much they appreciate you just like you love showing off your favorite business by sporting their printed materials. Whether you decide to sell or give away your new merchandise, allow your customers a chance to brag about your business through these print materials that they will just love!

Check out a few highlights from our year in 2017.
From website and print designs to new content services, SEO efforts, and pro bono projects – we’ve been busy!

Advertorials

Advertising and Content

In 2017 we implemented a new type of advertising on OldCity.com, called advertorials. We now offer a 300-word blog, made-to-order for our clients. Advertisers can use advertorials to spread the word on sales, services, general awareness and more. Our first client was the franchisee of the local chain, Dunkin’ Donuts. Check it out.

Content Writing

St. Augustine Historic Inns

In other content news, the St. Augustine Historic Inns requested we create intriguing blogs for their customers, which are then published on the bottom of their Home Page. The blogs vary in topic, but all pertain to things-to-do, holidays, and events in St. Augustine. Now, when potential customers navigate to the Inn’s website, they are greeted with material that is persuasive, making them more inclined to book a trip to exciting St. Augustine!

Print Design

Bluewater Adventure

Bluewater Adventure Rack Card Design

Front and back of rack card designed for Bluewater Adventure.

Bluewater Adventure’s made a big move from the waters of South Carolina to the Old City that prompted them to redesign their rack card, which was no longer accurate. Our team decided the only way to fully capture their quality tours was by taking on the Intercoastal Waterway ourselves! We set up a Bluewater Adventure photo shoot and scored photos of the catamarans in action along with phenomenal photos of The Great Cross and Castillo de San Marcos. Now, on the front of the rack card is a proper representation of the sightseeing opportunities you have when sailing with Bluewater Adventure.

Magazine Advertisement Design

Gator Door East Inc.

Gator Door East used this advertisement for their big debut in St. Johns County Parade of Homes magazine! After learning they’d be a featured business, Gator Door sat down with our team to create an influential and compelling ad to catch the attention of shoppers! Don’t you just a-door this ad?

Business Card and Site Design

Jack Ward Fire

Jack Ward Fire, recently under new ownership, desired a brand with a haute look, reflecting their field of work. Working through fire and flames, we presented them with what is now their company’s business card. They were so pleased with the fire-hot cards, that our design team is currently working with them on a smokin’ hot site.

Now, Minorcan can concentrate on managing customers and products without the hassle of learning how to navigate a difficult system.

Site and Logo Redesign

Rodbender Fishing Charters

The fishing charter industry in Northeast Florida can be compared to a shark tank, it’s a competitive field and standing out in the crowd can be difficult. After a consultation, it was clear to Chuck Stearns, owner, that Rodbender Fishing Charters needed a fresh logo and easy-to-navigate site. The design team created a few mockups and Chuck decided on this creative logo and simple site. Now, the Homepage of his site subtly answers frequently asked questions and has three call-to-action charter packages. As for the logo, if you can think of a better design, let minnow.

Site Design and Launch

R.V. Cooper Construction

R.V. Cooper Construction is a local construction company servicing St. Augustine and surrounding areas. Remarkably, since 1998, the company has relied on word of mouth to reach new clients; their quality workmanship and attentiveness in guiding customers was their business strategy. However, the competitive nature of the construction field prompted them to make their web presence concrete. Ricky Cooper, the owner, desired a platform that would showcase the construction process, to ease the customer experience. Our team raised the roof by creating Cooper’s beautiful new site; straightforward, simple and user-friendly.

Search Engine Optimization

Ranking Efforts

Search engine optimization (SEO), is imperative for every business to incorporate into their business plan. In 2017, our SEO team worked with nearly a dozen local businesses, developing key-terms and strategies to gain a higher ranking in their search engine results.

Multipurpose Online Designs

St. Joseph Academy

Old City Web Services also did a few pro-bono projects in 2017. One of our favorites was creating a series of 14 athletic-banners for St. Joseph Academy’s sports teams, the Flashes. It was important that the banners could be transferred and size-well whether they were added to newsletters, emails, print media, or their site. Our team sparked the Flashes interest with a lightning bolt and bold imagery. Go team!

Logo Design

The Ponce Hotel

Upon branching out from under the franchise, Magnuson Hotels, The Ponce Hotel needed a fresh look and logo. Our design team worked with the new interior designer at the Ponce on matching the color scheme used inside the hotel. In conclusion, they decided on the simple yet elegant logo.

Love what you see? Call us for a consultation.

Check out other work we've done for clients.

Two things clients can do to push security efforts is to never trust embedded URLs or unsolicited mail. This may seem obvious, but you wouldn’t believe the number of times a client is hacked because they thought they recognized the “From:” address in a spam mail. Also, be on guard for shady apps requesting unusual permission’s – especially mobile ones!

Make an Impact with Your Rack Card

March 14, 2017 by anoadmin Leave a Comment

Adobe Spark(60)

Our rack card designed for Animal Emergency Hospital of St. JohnsRack cards have been around for years and have become a staple of hotel lobbies, visitors centers, and, generally, anywhere there is a lot of foot traffic. Remember your last vacation to a new place? Sure, you may have planned out some spots you wanted to visit ahead of time, but as you checked in the hotel, it was probably hard not to stop at the display of brightly colored cards sporting attractions, restaurants, shops, and everything in between.

Here's the question: How did you decide which cards to pick up and which ones to ignore?

As a business, competition is everywhere. But in the case of rack cards, your competition is literally inches away. It's easy to get lost and looked over if you make a misstep in the design process.

So, how do you make your card stand out and get picked up?

We're here to help.

Just like with any other way of advertising your business, rack cards can be a useful marketing tool if done right and taken seriously. People make their choices in seconds of what they like and don't like - that's how long you have to make an impact.

pearlofthesea-rackcard

Our rack card designed for Pearl of the Sea Luxury Bed & Breakfast

Here are our top qualities for an eye-catching rack card:

Make a good first impression

Most of the time in a rack card display, very little of the card is actually visible upon first glance. That's great to keep in mind when you are in the design process. If you only have about a 2 in. by 4 in. space to get someone's attention, how are you going to do it? A good rule of thumb is to instantly let someone know who you are. Typically, putting your logo at the top is a good choice. Sometimes, business owners put pictures at the top, but it can get confusing. Let's say you own a kayaking company and put pictures of people kayaking. Sure, customers instantly recognize kayaks, but that still doesn't tell who you are.

Use strong pictures

People are visual creatures. Striking photos have a better chance of getting their attention in a matter of seconds than words. So, think about that when designing your card. Your main image needs to feel strong and make an impact while also conveying what your business is all about. It doesn't matter how beautiful your picture is if it is irrelevant to your business. Pictures are worth a thousand words, and if you get it right, that means less words you have to use to get your point across. For example, if you own a restaurant known for its amazing dishes, it would make more sense to showcase your best food than to show the dining room for your main image.

Display your company name prominently

If you're going to make the effort of designing, printing, and distributing a rack card, it's important to make sure people know who you are immediately. Don't make them search for your logo or company name. While this may seem like common sense, it can also be a common mistake. It's easy to get caught up in the pictures, text, and bright colors and forget that your name isn't front and center. Don't bury it in the text or at the bottom of the card. If people see pictures and paragraphs but no company name, it can lead to confusion and too much work for a customer.

Keep it clear and concise

When it comes to rack cards, less is more. Just as your picture and logo need to quickly relay who you are, so do the words you choose to use. Flooding people with text will turn them off quickly from reading your card. Give them the main things they need to know about you. And remember, you have two sides to the card, so don't feel like you have to fit everything on one side.

Important things to include:

  • Short phrase supporting your mission
  • Phone number
  • Website
  • Address
  • Photos that express who you are
  • Something you want to feature as one of the top assets of your business
  • Coupons can also be a great addition to attract new customers

Make sure it is up to date

If you've updated your brand or website, it is important to make sure all of your marketing materials are current as well. This prevents confusion, keeps things uniform, and gives you a chance to highlight new fun things about your business!

Other uses for rack cards

  • Hand them out if you are at a convention promoting your business
  • Use them to hand out if you sponsor events
  • Give them to new clients when they visit you for the first time

Before you print

  • Make sure you know how you will be using your cards. This will give you a good idea of the quantity you will want. Also, be sure if you plan on putting your cards in other businesses or visitors centers that you go through the proper protocols beforehand. Each place of business has a different set of rules for allowing people to display their cards.

Rack cards don't have to be complicated. Let us help you! At Old City Web Services, we concentrate on putting together stunning designs that convey who you are. We work with you throughout the design process to stay true to your mission and vision. Visit our Work page to see other rack cards we've designed for our clients. Tips for an Eye-Catching Business Card

March 7, 2017 by anoadmin Leave a Comment

Adobe Spark(57)

Business cards - every professional has one, but how many of them actually make an impression? Having business cards is common sense as a professional, but if you're not putting thought into them, you're missing the point.

Instead of thinking about a business card as just another thing you have to do in business, think of it this way: Your business card is a visual representation of your company and an extension of your brand.

cards 2So, answer this question: When you hand someone your card, what reaction will they have?

If your card is like all the other ones they've received, it's likely to end up in the trash instead of in their wallet.

A business card isn't just a means of giving someone your contact information. If they keep it, they'll likely see it again in the future which will keep you on their mind.

So, how do you stand out and utilize your business card as an extension of your company's marketing?

Here are our top tips for an eye-catching business card:

Think outside of the rectangle

The standard business card is a horizontal rectangle. It makes sense. It fits easily into a wallet. But it's become so commonplace, that it can easily get lost among others. An easy fix for this is to play around with different shapes and sizes of cards. A small change in shape can make a big difference. Recently gaining popularity is the square business card - some of which have rounded edges. If you think about it, it's not really that much of a change. But the shape will catch someone's attention. What if you made a card half the usual size? While you might not be able to fit as much information as a typical card, you'll probably make a bigger impact.

It's all in the details

Cardstock is one of the most common types of materials used to make business cards. While there's nothing wrong with using cardstock, people are used to it. It's the norm. This gives you another opportunity to stand out. During the design process, think about texture and thickness of the card. Giving someone a card that feels different and has more weight to it will help increase the chance that they will actually examine the card. This way, you're playing into two of a person's senses instead of one. Even a change as simple as making your card vertical as opposed to horizontal will cause you to stand out.

Have fun with it

If there ever were a time to take risks, it would be with your business card. Creative risks can pay off big time, especially if those you hand your cards to receive stacks of them per week. If you give them something they haven't seen before, you're going to stand out in the best way.

Ultimately, your card should represent who you are. Your business is unique, and your card should be as well. Design should be a fun process. If you're a photographer, use one side of your card to showcase your photography. If you own a painting company, make one side look like a paint swatch. If you are a writer, you could make your card look like a typewriter. The options are endless.

The perks of hiring a designer to craft your card:

  • You get a unique design.
  • They can take your ideas and turn them into reality.
  • You will end up with a quality product you'll be proud to hand out.

Here at Old City Web Services, we focus on creating unique designs that reflect who you are and make an impact. Contact us to schedule a free consultation and let us help you come up with a timeless design today.

10 Ways to Establish Your Business

September 26, 2016 by anoadmin Leave a Comment

adobe-spark12

Being a new business has its challenges, one of the biggest being establishing yourself in the community. A loyal client base and name recognition are vital to your success. Without the support of those around you, failure comes closer to becoming a reality than a fear. So, how do you make your startup stand out before it sinks?

Take advantage of free listings

This is a no brainer. Putting your company’s name out there as many ways as you can for free should be a top priority. Directory listings and community calendars are great resources for the community and an excellent way to get your name out there. This takes minimal time and effort and helps establish your business among other longstanding companies in the area.

Make sure you know your target market

Take a second to sit down and really think about who your target demographic is. Who are you marketing to and how are you doing so? Are they more likely to be on social media or flipping through the latest newspaper? Spending all the time and money in the world in marketing won't make a difference if your audience never sees it.

Utilize social media

Let’s face it. Everyone is on social media these days, and as a business, it is becoming an essential way to reach consumers. Luckily for you, social media is a free and effective way to interact with customers from all over. Depending on what your business is and the age group of people you are trying to reach, you can choose the best social media platforms to reach them.

Start a blog

Think that you shouldn’t start a blog because you’ll run out of things to talk about? What if you are a very specialized business? Not a problem. A company blog is a useful platform to produce content related to your industry. Relevant content will promote you as trusted resource for your trade. Example: Say you run a gym or are a personal trainer. You don’t have to use your blog just to talk about your services. Use your platform to talk about health advice, innovative exercises, and client transformations, etc.

Implement SEO into your website

Search engine optimization is the action of making your website rank for search keywords and phrases that pertain to your website/business. It is important to have the keywords and phrases viewers are searching for installed properly on your website. If done correctly, more people will view your website which will result in an increase in business. Search engines rank your website based on common search terms, the age of your site information, site links, and the relevance of your content.

Create your Google Business listing

Listing your business on Google will make sure your business appears easily when people are searching for you on Google. You can add pictures, and people can leave reviews which add to your credibility.

Take advantage of customer testimonials

When a customer has a good experience with you, don’t be afraid to ask what they thought of your service. Testimonials are one of the best ways to build credibility with potential clients.

Send out emails

Putting customers on an email list is a great way to reach out to them long after they've left your website or store. This gives you the opportunity to tell them about the variety of services you offer, updates from your company, and news in your industry.

Get involved in the community

How do you expect the community to know who you are if you don’t try to get to know the people in it? The more people see your name associated with the community, the more they will come to know you as a local establishment. Sponsor or participate in community events. Donate or give discounts for first-time clients. Give clients an initiative for referring customers. Give back to the community. Serving others is not only great for your staff but is also a wonderful way to get to know the locals.

Network as much as possible

Getting involved with different organizations within the community is essential. Some of your biggest allies in the business world are fellow business owners. The Chamber of Commerce should be at the top of your list for business networking. The St. Johns County Chamber of Commerce’s mission states they are dedicated to improving the business environment in St. Johns County by focusing on Economic Development, Business Advocacy, Member Education, and Business Promotion. Service organizations such as United Way or Rotary are also excellent ways to get involved in the community.

Why Good Marketing Needs Print Media

November 10, 2015 by anoadmin

Anayltical-Print-6662

We all know that every day, new trends are emerging on the internet and technology is ever-changing. For many, this leads them to believe that print is dead. Maybe surprisingly, though, print is far from dead. For many small businesses, print marketing is part of their overall marketing plan and goes hand in hand with their digital communication.

There are many ways in which print can be a very effective tool in communicating the message of your small business to your target audience. At Old City Web Services, we offer design of rack cards, business cards, folders, brochures, and other print media to meet your business needs.

Here is why you should be using print media in conjunction with your digital marketing:

Personalization:

First and foremost, people know that print media takes more time, more cost, and more effort to put together. If you add personalization to this, it will make the recipient realize that you are willing to go an extra step to share your business with them. This alone can add value and lead to increased sales for your company.

Print and Social Media

Print is a great way to combine the efforts you are putting into your online presence. Having print media like business or rack cards created that draw people to your social media sites is great way to spread the word about your small business.

Uniqueness

It can be really hard to stand out in the crowd these days now that it seems like everyone has a website, everyone has a facebook page, and everyone has a business card. This makes design that much more important. It’s not just having a website or print media that matters. It has to be well designed, eye-catching, and memorable. Print marketing can be successful, but it doesn't guarantee it. Put thought into it, get a firm to help you that knows trends and can help your small business grow in all ways possible.

Small Business Advertising on a Budget

June 3, 2015 by anoadmin Leave a Comment

It can be difficult as a small business owner to know how to reach an audience and advertise your services and products without busting your budget. Here are some ideas for small business owners who want to get the word out and are on a budget.

Banner Ads

As a small business owner, it is important to reach out to local outlets who promote your area and partner with them to promote your business through banner advertising on the web.

Facebook Ads

Facebook advertising is extremely effective since ads on facebook are a way for people to promote your business without even knowing they are doing it. Even if people don't immediately make a purchase because of the Facebook ad, many of them wind up "liking" the business and ultimately becoming a customer.

Blog

Influential bloggers in your niche are happy to provide blog posts with reviews of your business and it's a mutually beneficial experience as they get to eat, shop, stay, or enjoy a product from your business while you receive the publicity of a positive review online that is seen by many.

Claim your listing on Google Places, Yahoo Local and Bing Local

Your listing online can be claimed by you and this promotion of your business is free and easy and will put your business in search results on search engines.

Get a Rack Card

Having a professional looking, well-designed rack card to hand out is more impactful than just a business card and can give you big bang for your buck when you don't have a lot to spend on advertising, especially recurring advertising.

All of these are things we can help you with at Old City Web Services so that you can promote your small business in the most economical way possible. Call us (904.829.2772) or e-mail us today!

Influence with design

November 14, 2013 by anoadmin Leave a Comment

Determine your goal, make a plan & persuade your audience

What is design and how does it relate to my website? Let's start with a definition:

Web design encompasses many different skills and disciplines in the production and maintenance of websites. The different areas of web design include web graphic design; interface design; user experience design and search engine optimization.
Web design refers to a process or a series of activities that will ultimately give someone or something a unique identity via the world-wide web.

Web design should accomplish a goal. Ask yourself: Why would people want to visit my site? What will people want to see or do once they get there. Is the important stuff easy to find? Think about your site's intent. Are you trying to showcase products, reach new people, expand employee relations, interact with your customers more or maybe you just want a mere presence.

Rise of the Solopreneur – How to brand yourself

July 31, 2013 by anoadmin Leave a Comment

Strong branding is crucial in our ad-cultured world. It is important to ensure that you're the first person in your field that enters customers' minds. This can be a somewhat daunting task when it's just you-the entrepreneur who works solo. You may ask yourself: How can I stand out and become memorable in the minds of others? Simple- professional branding. Below are two things to remember when branding or re-branding yourself as a one-man or one-woman business:

1. Simplicity

When it comes to branding yourself, clarity of expression, or simplicity, is key. Having a logo that is too busy or filled with trivial detail can come across as confusing or even pretentious in some cases. A consumer will generally just take a brief glimpse at a logo and in those few seconds, you must grab their attention. It's no coincidence that the most memorable logos are also the most simple in appearance. Although larger corporations such as Cocoa Cola, Target and Nike may first come to mind, it's important to remember that even Solopreneurs and small businesses choose simplicity over complexity when choosing their logo.

Individuals that utilize simplicity (click on the names below to view logo)

  • Oprah Winfrey
  • Bobby McFerin
  • Tammy Elliott

2. Consistency

Once you have come up with your branding, don't shy away from it. Use it everywhere...and I mean everywhere! I'm talking new business and rack cards, advertising, stationary and of course, your website and social media networks. With this being said, take the time to generate a plan for exposing your new brand to the public and the media, but be confident in your new brand. If you don't believe in yourself, nobody else will.

Need a professional and skilled graphic design team to assist in your branding efforts? Old City Web Services specializes in providing small businesses, entrepreneurs and solopreneurs with everything from logo design and development to complete re-branding campaigns.

Here's a look at some of our recent logo development work for local clients (click on the name below to view logo)
